As a reminder, all members receive free access to JAGT issues. These issues are now located within the Member Area of the website.

 

Members: Each JAGT issue also contains a Test Your continuing education offering, free to members. Upon successful completion you will receive 3.0 CE
hours.

 

Non-members: The Test Yourself opportunity is available for a fee of $30. Non-members must initially register as “prospective members" here to gain access to the learning modules. WVU Medicine is currently seeking a cytogenetics supervisor at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. The responsibilities for this role include overseeing daily operation of full-service cytogenetics lab, offering pre- and post-natal testing for congenital and oncology specimen, and working with the lab manager, technical director and laboratory medical director to ensure proper functioning of the lab. The supervisor will also create patient reports for karyotypes and FISH including proper cytogenetic nomenclature for interpretation and review by lab medical director. Additionally, this role provides input into performance evaluations of other laboratory personnel. Additional duties include assisting technical director in maintenance and update of procedure manual as well as validation of new tests, assisting in coordinating the orientation and training of new technologists, responsibilities for staff compliance with test procedures and quality protocols, closely monitoring specimen turnaround time and coordinates daily workload and staffing requirements. This role is also responsible for ensuring and maintaining quality control and quality assurance measures in the laboratory.
